Psychiatry Philosophy and Arts

PP+A is a network of people from all walks of life who are interested in the relatedness between Psychiatry, Philosophy and the Arts.

Mission of PP+A

At PP+A, we are interested in all aspects and points of views from mental health professionals, students, patients, and outside observers. We encourage the discussion of all philosophies including ancient or modern, Eastern/Western, spirituality/religion and how they relate to overall artistic expression of the human condition through music, artworks, paintings, language/writing and creativity and as whole.

Our mission is:
-- to recognize and promote the interrelatedness of psychiatry, philosophy and the arts
-- to provide a safe space for discussions about the mind, psychiatric conditions, philosophy, and the impact of the arts on the mind and the spirit
-- to explore the link between psychiatric conditions and creativity, often described as the thin line between great works of art and madness.

PP+A offers a discussion forum generated by an online publication of articles and creative works (photography, videos, music, etc.) which you are invited to contribute here.

At PP+A, we stand for freedom of expression and freedom of religion.
The ideal of the founder, Lida Prypchan, is Nichiren's Buddhism teachings, Daisaku Ikeda and the SGI (Soka Gakkai International or Value Creating Society) and its committment to work for world peace through humanism and dialogue.

At the same time, we welcome any other religious expression as long as it promotes respect, understanding and the desire to live in peace andto avoid war.
The founder (Lida Prypchan),  the Managing Director (Daniel Aponte Prypchan) and Secretary (Cristina Prypchan) are Nichiren's Buddhism practitioners and members of the SGI-USA and SGI-Australia.

Update on Big Mamma-Good News!

Big Mamma is looking better today. She's finally eating and drinking on her own with the other hens and she's more active. She has gone to the "bathroom" which means she doesn't have an egg stuck inside of her so that is another good sign. I was so worried she would continue to not eat. I'm still going to give her some medicine just in case she has worms in her system. I picked up syringes, worming meds, yogurt, cottage cheese, olive oil, and antibacterial medicine.

Sick Chicken--Big Mamma is sick!

One of my chickens, Big Mamma, the "golfing" champ is sick, she hasn't ate or drank all day. The other three hens are typically eating like pigs. Big Mamma is the more mellow of the hens but it's not normal for her to not eat anything at all. I had to force-feed her and give her water today. She has also been the last one out of the coop for the past several days. She is walking around but is very listless and slow. She doesn't appear to have any fleas or mites on her. She could have worms…
